Corning® Supersomes™ Human CYP1A2 + Oxidoreductase, 0.5 nmol Recombinant enzyme prepared from insect cells infected with baculovirus containing desired cDNAs

CYP1A2 is present in most human livers but its level of expression varies considerably among individuals. The levels of CYP1A2 are low or non-existent in non-hepatic tissues.

CYP1A2 is involved in the metabolism of 5-10% of commonly prescribed medications. Examples of drug substrates include acetaminophen, propranolol, naproxen, imipramine, amitriptyline, R-warfarin, clozapine, and several others. Common probe substrates used for CYP1A2 in vitro testing are phenacetin and 7-ethoxyresorufin; specific inhibitors include furafylline (MBI) and α-naphthoflavone.

CYP1A2 levels can be dramatically induced in the liver by compounds which can interact with the AHH-receptor complex, such as omeprazole, phenytoin, chronic smoking, and charcoal-broiled meat. CYP1A2 is involved in the activation of aromatic amine carcinogens, heterocyclic arylamine promutagens derived from food pyrolysates and aflatoxin B₁. CYP1A2 appears to be the high affinity form for aflatoxin B₁ activation in human liver.
