For failure-free operation even during cold seasons rail track switches are equipped with heat resistors. These resistors are electrical resistors which transforms electrical power into heat. At first sight the Corning heating points are very similar to the SKV 20 but differ in several components. They are all equipped with Wago cage clamps to which the heating elements are attached. Termination between clamps for the heating elements and the power supply is ensured by cross bridges, which are mounted on top of the clamps. This allows easy changes of configuration in field.
